His mother died when he was about ten years old. Because it was difficult to work and manage the children, their father was unable to keep the family together. The younger children were put into foster homes. Dean first lived with Mr. and Mrs. Jeters. His memories of his time with the Jeter family was very unpleasant. Later he lived with the W. T. Willis family in Snyder, Texas. When they moved, he moved with them to Content, near Abilene, Texas. The Willis family was a very large family and Dean had very fond memories of his days with them.

While living in Content, Texas, Dean met and married Hattie Perpie Belyeu from nearby Goldsboro. They had a large family, ten children of their own plus many nephews and nieces that were from motherless and broken homes.

Dean was a farmer, oil refinery laborer and a carpenter in that order. He died in 1963, less than eight months after Hattie passed away. They are buried side by side at the Colorado City Cemetery.

Dean loved his brothers and sisters even though they were seperated very young. Somehow he knew a lot about them and followed their lives even though their contacts were infrequent. His father, William Wade Hutching McCorcle, lived with Dean and Hattie at various times before his death. Dean knew very little about his grandparents or ancestors. Unfortunately he died before this information was available.
